Do you have physical resources to donate?

Please contact our offices to learn what our most needed supplies are at this time. Our needs vary per season and volume of foster children. Common supplies include shoes, backpacks, toiletries, etc.

 FAQs

  • You are over 18 and in good physical and emotional health.

    • You may be married or single.

    • You can be in a same sex relationship.

    • You can be working parents.

    • You can live in an apartment or a house.

    • You need to have the necessary skills, stamina and patience to deal effectively with children who may have emotional or physical needs.

    • You must have sufficient income to support your own family without relying on foster care payments.

    • Be able to provide a bed, closet and drawer space for any child youth placed.

    • Have a valid driver license.

    • You’ll need to obtain a state Resource Family Approval Certificate. That process includes several steps (including but not limited to) completing a background check, providing references, providing health clearances and participating in a thorough assessment of you and your family by a social worker.

  • Provide a safe, stable, supportive and loving home for a child or youth.

    • Make and keep needed medical, dental and mental health appointments.

    • Provide transportation to school, activities, appointments, court, and family visits.

    • Provided appropriate and adequate food and clothing.

    • Provided monthly allowance.

    • Maintain good records of health contacts, expenditures on clothing, the child’s possessions, and cash resources.

    • Submit required documentation to the agency.

    • Know Children’s Personal Rights.

    • Use the Reasonable and Prudent Standard for making decisions about the child.

    • Know the criteria as a mandated reporter.

    • Notify the Tribal Oak Tree social worker of unusual incidents, accidents or illnesses, school meetings, changes in behavior, or an AWOL.

    • Stay current with training and First Aid/CPR certifications.

    • Participate in CFT’s, school meetings and events, and agency events.

    • Relate in a positive manner with the client’s family, social workers, and service providers.

    • Monthly financial reimbursement.

    • Assistance with clothing, supplies, and childcare needs.

    • Opportunities to connect with tribal events and traditions.
