TRIBAL OAK TREE FOSTER FAMILY AGENCY

About Us

Ileihno Bopachemihn means “caring for children” - and that’s what we do.

Tribal Oak Tree is California’s only Native American and Alaska Native-led foster agency. As an Indigenous nonprofit organization, we are committed to protecting children, strengthening families, and preserving cultural identity.

We pride ourselves on pairing kids with resource families that provide loving, nurturing homes with an emphasis on Indigenous culture, traditions, and customs.

Native American Foster Child

It’s never too late to become a resource parent!

We connect caregivers to vital local resources and support safe, informed family reunification. As a small, dedicated team, we prioritize meaningful relationships and respectful, community-rooted care.

Classified as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, we provide culturally grounded foster homes for Native children ages 0-17, and non-minor dependents up to age 18 working toward a high school diploma or GED. We actively recruit, train, and certify Native resource families-supporting tribal identity, healing, and compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).

Sacramento Native American

Our approach to culturally informed care prevents additional trauma for our Native American and Alaska Native foster youth. Reclamation, education, and celebration of ancestry is a primary priority of our nonprofit.
